Captain's Recognition Night
Updated On: May 29, 2014
Captain Utgard and Captain Nolette

On Thursday May 22nd, the Wells Professional Firefighters Association hosted a recognition night for two former Captain's. Over 80 guests filled the Coastal House in Wells showing their appreciation for Captain Ramon Nolette and Captain Gillian Utgard. Representatives from the Town of Wells included Selectmen Bob Foley and Town Manager Jon Carter. Fire Chief Daniel Moore was present as well as representatives from the Branch and Highpine Fire Associations. President James Moore spoke on behalf of the Wells Professional Firefighters. President John Martel was present from the Professional Firefighters of Maine along with 1st District Vice President Gerry Gay and Director, Organizing Field Service Rep Michael Crouse. Shawn St. Hillare provided photography services for the event.

Captain Gillian Utgard's career was cut short due to a job related injury suffered in 2011. Gillian was a charter member of Local 4652 and our first President. Gillian was hired in 2001 and promoted to Captain in 2005. Gillian received recognition awards from the Town, the Highpine Fire Association, and Local 4652. He was recognized by the Local for his 12 years of service to the Town as well as being a charter member and President.

Captain Ramon Nolette's career was cut short due to job related illness. Ramon was our longest serving member for he was hired in 1978. Ramon was promoted to Captain in 2005. His career spanned more than 36 years for the Wells Fire Department. Ramon received recognition awards from the Town, including a wooden chair presented to him for over 25 years of service, the Branch Fire Association, and Local 4652. He was recognized by the Local for his 36 years of service to the Town as well as being a charter member.

We want to once again wish both Captain's the best of luck in their future endeavors. Thank you for your service.
